Some participants of the International Dialogue on Empowering Rural Revitalization through Rural Culture and Tourism, one of activities of Jike (Jike means thanksgiving in Miao language) Festival, came to Shibadong Village to inspect its cultural tourism resources and projects, learn from the development practices of rural tourism and appreciate the development achievements of rural tourism on November 2.
Led by a tourist guide, the attendees walked into the exhibition hall of targeted poverty alleviation, watched the representative historical photos and texts, and gained a detailed understanding of the arduous process of poverty alleviation in Shibadong Village and the changes of rural revitalization.
During the visit, they exclaimed that the “targeted poverty alleviation” has achieved fruitful results in Shibadong Village, and the integration of culture and tourism has fully demonstrated the vitality of rural revitalization.
Then, they listened to the touching stories of struggle in Lizi Village, felt the unique charm of Miao embroidery, an intangible cultural heritage project, and witnessed the tremendous changes in this millennium-old Miao village.
“The Miao embroidery products in Shibadong Village reflect the ingenuity of the embroiderers. We should make such a good intangible cultural heritage project keep up with the market demand, and help these embroiderers get a sustainable job and Miao embroidery products go out of mountains,” said a staff member of the secretariat of the Hunan Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritance and Protection Promotion Association.
